Volunteer Opportunities for the Chinese Culture Festival

There are some exciting volunteer opportunities for the Chinese Culture Festival at the Milwaukee Art Museum in the summer. The volunteer opportunities are open to all high-school students in the community. MCCC will provide a certificate to the volunteers upon completion, and will also provide a letter of reference upon request.

The Intern positions are 3-month long starting in May, with a minimum commitment of 80 hours. If you or someone you know are interested, please contact either Zhaohui Wang or Hongyu Tian via email by 4/24. We will have a training session for all the volunteers at the end of April.

Social Media Interns (2)

The most important requirement for this position is that the candidate must have extensive social media experience. This means that the person should be actively participating in a wide variety of social media activities such as blogging, twittering (microblogging), community development and management, social bookmarking, commenting, etc. and is well-connected with the broader social media world. The second important requirement is that the candidate must be able to think strategically, and be willing and able to roll up his sleeves to help implement the programs.

Responsibilities – the primary responsibilities for this position include:

* Creating a Twitter and Facebook account , and/or accounts on other social media platforms to increase visibility and traffic of the Chinese Culture Festival and manage the social media sites
* keeping timely update of the social media sites

Program Lead Interns (8)

The most important requirement of this position is that the candidates must be passionate about volunteering and community service.

Responsibilities – the primary responsibilities for this position include:

*   designing/documenting activities and scheduling for the designated program (Culture or Children)
*   attending trainings and meetings when required
*   managing the program during the event

Program Details:
*   Lantern Craft: --- Assisting kids to make ‘Chun lantern’. Program director can pass the materials and model for you.
*   Chinese Zodiac fortune wheel: --- let little kids play Zodiac fortune wheel; and sell small Zodiac toys. Program director can pass the material to you.
*   Opera Mask Craft --- Assisting kids to paint Opera mask on printed paper. Program director can pass the model for you.
*   Learn to speak Chinese/learn to write Chinese --- Teaching kids to speak simple Chinese and write simple Chinese words using brush pen. Need to create posters for this booth.
*   Chopstick game --- Using chopstick to get glass ball. Sell chopsticks.
*   Take pictures with traditional Chinese costumes --- Purchase traditional Chinese costumes from China , create background prop like Great Wall or Forbidden City

Ticket Sales Person (unlimited)

The most important requirement for this position is that the candidates must be passionate about Chinese culture and be willing to promote and market it. The ticket is for admission to the Milwaukee Art Museum on July 23 or 24. Featured programs at MAM include the Forbidden City Exhibition, the Chinese Culture Festival, and other Chinese Art Exhibits. Advanced ticket is $10 each; ticket at the door is $14. Children 12 and under are free with paid adults.

Responsibilities
* Sell tickets for admission to Milwaukee Art Museum for the Forbidden City Exhibition and Chinese Culture Festival on July 23 and 24, 2011.

Benefit:
* Retain 10% of ticket sale as ‘commission’

2011 Spring Registration starts today! We copied your selected classes from last semaster as the default. Please click here to change it as needed. Please come to administration office to pay your bill during the school time before the end of this semester. $20.00 discount will be available if the payment is made before Jan. 31st, 2011.

The MMCS 2010 fall semester online enrollment is now started
(http://www.mmcsweb.com/cgi-bin/stdreg1st.cgi). Please register AND submit full
payment (with invoice) by Saturday, 09/04/2010 (postmarked if by mail), in order to receive

your tuition refund . A drop box will also be available at this Saturday's MMCS
